The Suez Canal Authority's transit-fee rebates and short feeder cycles make Egyptian-origin cargo competitive against rival Mediterranean origins. Chinese buyers source Egyptian extra-long-staple cotton lint and yarn — certified by the Cotton Egypt Association — to feed premium spinning and weaving programs in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shandong. Egyptian dimensional and cut stone — limestone, basalt, granite and decorative marbles from the Galala and Sinai quarries — supply Chinese fabricators and architectural projects, often shipped block-form for further processing. Aluminium ingots and semi-finished products from Egypt's Nag Hammadi smelter and downstream extruders feed Chinese rolling and extrusion mills. Trade falls under standard Chinese MFN tariffs by HS code; Egypt is not a current FTA partner, but Suez Canal Economic Zone integration and bilateral working agreements support administrative fluidity. Chinese buyers typically operate CIF Shanghai or Ningbo with telegraphic transfer or letter of credit.
